Other Appliances

If it’s being done, we do it! Our doctors are highly-trained specialists at the forefront of orthodontics. Whether your teeth need a little tweaking or you have a complicated issue that requires more correction, you will be in the best of hands with Dr. Sethi and Dr. Udis.

When braces and Invisalign Clear Aligners alone are not the most appropriate treatment options for you, here are just a few of the other techniques we may recommend:

Expanders, Space Maintainers and Mouthguards

Palatal Expander

An orthopedic (works to change your bone) appliance designed to widen your upper jaw so that the bottom teeth and jaw fit properly with the upper teeth, which will improve your bite and smile.

Lower Lingual Holding Arch and Nance Holding Arch (Space Maintainers)

These appliances are glued in for a certain period of time and used to hold the space after a baby tooth was lost early, which prevents the permanent molars from shifting and crowding the adult teeth.

Mouthguards

Mouthguards can help protect your teeth, lips, gums and jaws from traumatic injury. We highly recommend our patients wear a mouthguard during contact sports and we make them for you!

Retainers

All of our retainers are custom-made for you to keep your teeth straight and make sure your smile lasts a lifetime. We may recommend one of the following:

  • Essix Retainer: A clear retainer (similar to a clear aligner)
  • Hawley Retainer: An acrylic retainer made in a variety of fun colors
  • Bonded Retainer: A wire we place on the backside of the front teeth in certain scenarios

Surgical Orthodontics

When absolutely necessary, we partner with the area’s most accomplished Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (OMFS) to correct jaw abnormalities in adult patients. Surgery can improve your ability to chew, speak and breathe, while also delivering tremendous smile and facial transformations. This type of collaborative treatment is only recommended after discussion with you and careful analysis of your x-rays, 3D study models and photographs.
